Restaurant Bougainville is renowned among connoisseurs for its refined dinners and gastronomic experiences, filled with imaginative creations. Within one year of opening, Restaurant Bougainville was awarded a Michelin star. The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Tim Golsteijn. Since April 2023, the front of house has been led by our Maître d’ Sommelier Ronald Opten. With his experience in top gastronomy, including at the Amstel Hotel and Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg, he is a source of inspiration for both colleagues and guests.

As a Sommelier at Bougainville, you are not only responsible for the preparation and presentation of our wine selection, but you also play a crucial role in the overall guest experience. You advise guests on wines and food pairings at the highest level and are able to share your knowledge and passion in an accessible and welcoming manner. You ensure that every guest enjoys a unique and memorable experience, where attention, detail, and quality are central.

In short, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and presenting the wine selection;

  • Advising guests on wines and food pairings at a high level;

  • Serving and explaining wines that complement the dishes;

  • Proactively anticipating and exceeding guest expectations;

  • Ensuring correct execution of departmental procedures;

  • Continuously improving and innovating the wine service based on guest feedback.

Job requirements

Here's where you'll recognize yourself:

  • You have completed a degree in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or a related field;

  • You have extensive wine knowledge and hold a relevant wine certification (such as WSET, SDEN, or equivalent), or are willing to obtain one;

  • You possess in-depth wine knowledge and a strong passion for gastronomy;

  • You effortlessly share your knowledge and enthusiasm with guests and colleagues;

  • You are dedicated to creating the best possible experience for guests and delivering an unforgettable wine and dining journey;

  • You understand how to provide service at the highest level and have a keen eye for detail;

  • With your refined taste and expertise, you consistently exceed guest expectations;

  • You remain accurate and well-organized, even during busy and high-pressure moments;

  • Experience in a Michelin-starred restaurant is a plus;

  • You are fluent in Dutch and/or English.

What we offer:

  • A salary between €2,645.47 and €3,289.31 gross (based on 38 hours, depending on knowledge and experience);
